Artwork specifications

Artwork format

Artwork should be done in vector format, either in CorelDraw format or a PDF. When saving files, please convert all text to curves (outlines) to keep fonts and spacing as per you document. Please only use CMYK colours and if you require a specific colour, please supply us with the colour on an actual printout or a PANTONE colour referance. Any images used must be 300dpi at actual size for the best quality print.Diagram on how bleed and margins work for printing

Bleed

Bleed is the area of artwork that is extended beyond the actual trim size of the document. It is used to avoid strips of white paper showing on the edges of your print should be movement on the paper while printing. Any objects in your artwork that touch the edges of the document require bleed, for instance a background colour or image should spread to cover the entire bleed area as should any objects that creep in from the side of the page. We require a bleed of at least 4mm for each of the four sides of the page, therefore you should add 8mm to the width and height of the document, for example:

A4 Size = 210mm x 297mm
210mm + 8mm = 218mm
297mm + 8mm = 305mm

Total Document Size = 218mm x 305mm

Margins

You must also add a margin to the edges of the document to avoid having your objects look as if they are about to fall of the page or even worse actually get cropped off when the document is trimmed! We ask for a margin of at least 4mm to10mm depending on the size of the sheet.
